"Across the South, a fierce competition is afoot between Democratic hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for black voters, who are expected to constitute 20 percent to 50 percent of voters in the South Carolina Democratic primary on Jan. 26 and in the four Southern states with primaries on Feb. 5 ."The prospective candidates for the 2008 presidential election are seeing pslit voters across the nation. In the image provided my MSNBC, Barack Obama is seen in a crowd of people. His face cannot be seen, but this may be for a reason. Due to the fact that his face is not visible in the image, it adds to the theme of chaos that he is facing. The African American voters are finding themselves split in their decisions. It's these voters that can spell victory or disaster for Obama. In this picture, people are screaming, Obama appears as if he is trying to handle all the pressures he is facing at once. MSNBC seems to see him positively, but knows he is in a difficult position.

This picture clearly shows the pressure Obama is in as he continues his campaign. The way he confronts the crowd shows us in order to gain the vote, he must face them no matter what. The photographer must have wanted the viewer to feel how much pressure Obama is in when confronting the crowd of voters.
Media wants us to see that despite the number of people and race of the voters, Obama is still able to confront them with ease, friendliness, and most importantly confidence, despite the situation he is in. This situation tells us the amount of pressure Obama is in since he is confronting the crowd of voters.
If you look at the picture closely, u can examine that Obama is talking to the voters, and that he is shaking hands with one of them.
Who ever took this picture wanted to portray Obama as a strong politician but at the same time under a lot of pressure in the campaign due to the numerous amount of voters shown in the picture.
It seems to me that the black supporters of Obama are all rushing him like he is some sought of rock star. They are trying to portray that Obama is the "rockstar" canidate for the black vote and all balck voter should join the bandwagon.
Jeremiah,
Your eyes are definitely cloudy! That's not what I see! I see people excited to be a part of this historic time in history!
Barack has that quality that make one believe again in themselves and also believe this country can & is willing to change for the good!
If black people are joining the bandwagon---so what! That's not a bad thing! Barack is the best candidate for the job! This is why he is going to be President of the United States! Join the wagon!
