Do Democrats care about the spanish vote?
Yeah the picture has been removed and did not have Obama in it but the link is more impotant. Apparently all the democratic candidates are trying to win the hispanic vote in Nevada, California, and New York. Now how does one show support of the hispanic community? Well Obama does so by shouting "Yes we can!" in spanish and talking about "racial tension" between blacks and hispanics and how he hopes to get rid of that tension. Which is better then Hillary, who was eating tacos with Antonio Villarigosa, Mayor of Los Angeles. either way both are trying for the hispanic vote and in my opinion, doing so in the most superficial b.s. way possible.
Here's the link to the article http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/15/us/politics/15hispanic.html?_r=1&scp=5&sq=obama&oref=slogin

Well the picture looks appetizing, and I guess the media here wants to steriotype the spanish vote by using a "taco" to represent it.
I have to concur with chris that the pciture does look very appetizing. However I do not understand how anyone can say that this picture has any value to Obama. It is like saying manchester is better then Liverpool(which it is). Its irrelevant in this blog but may be relevant in an other.
id like to apoligize for the picture used and tha title's phrasing. it meant to imply how the Democratic candidates are doing very stereotypical thing to obtain the hispanic vote. because honestly the media tries to pass it off as a good thing but really its just sad.
WTF?!?! Did you honestly just say that? I belive that Sean is really just a muppet. Due to his lack of inteligance. Somebody needs to smack Sean!!!!
I think that the spanish vote is VERY important to democrats. Seeing how most Hispanics vote democrat. The hispanic vote might be a deciding factor, due to the fact that balcks may tend twoards Obama and frankly white democrats might favor Cliton. So the hispanic vote might tilt the balance in someones favor in these primaries.
OK - 1st I don't know who msb1320 is, but i hope he's not planning on gettting any kind of grade in my class....REMEMBER i told you to use screennames i can recognize so i can give you credit.
Secondly, there is little to no comment here about how the media (in this case, the NYTimes) is positioning its reader and changing/effecting their perception through the images/;anguage they choose to use.
